Welcome to our Lightz page. We try to keep this page up to date with everything coming up at Lightz, as well as giving you the ability to pay for a young person's attendance for a term at a time.
What is it?
Lightz is the youth group of Gateway Church, though open to any young people of any (or no) church. Each session is different, but usually involves a number of different elements - like games, challenges, worship, workshops, social time, group time, talks etc. We believe that following Jesus is the best decision that any young person can make, so we want Lightz to be a place where young people can learn about who Jesus is, and how they can follow him. We believe that this can be done, all at the same time as having a huge amount of fun. Young people often tell us that Friday nights at Lightz are a highlight of their week, and they come along because they feel safe to be themselves when they're with us. Lightz is open to young people in school years 7-13.
When is it?
We meet every Friday evening during term time, usually at the Gateway Centre on Front Street. Our doors open at 7pm and we finish at 9pm. We ask that young people arrive before 7.10pm, so that we can crack on with the fun!
Who runs it?
Our team of dedicated leaders have a huge amount of youth work experience between them. All are safely recruited and have Enhanced DBS checks. Our team is led by Caleb Ellwood, with Izzi Barthow as our Youth Support Worker.
How much is it?
From September 2024, our pricing structure is changing. It'll now be £2 each week. This can still be paid on a weekly basis, on the door, in cash or by card. Alternatively, you can now pay for a whole term at a time, at a much reduced rate of £15 per term. This means no more hunting around for pound coins each Friday! You can make this payment below.
