Newday 2026

When?

Monday 27th July to Saturday 1st August (with a small advance party heading down to set up on Sunday 26th July). The coach will leave from the Gateway car park at 8.30am on Monday 27th July, and return around 3.00pm on Saturday 1st August.

N.B. Just like last year, there is significantly less storage on the coach. This means that we need all luggage, camp beds, sleeping bags etc to be at the Gateway Centre on SUNDAY 26th July at 9.00am to be loaded onto the van. You can only bring a small rucksack and a pillow on Monday 27th July on the coach with you.

Where?

Norfolk Showground, near Norwich.

What?

Newday is an annual Christian youth event gathering thousands of young people during the summer holidays. The event consists of two daily main meetings with worship and teaching, with additional seminars, sports tournaments, cafes and activities. We always want to be clear on this at the outset; there are a lot of worship meetings. If your young person is not interested in the Christian faith, then they will probably not enjoy Newday!

There will be several youth leaders going along from the Gateway and City Church youth teams.

We’ll be catering for the young people 3 meals a day for the whole time we’re there. We’ll all be camping in tents. We usually have enough tents, but may be in touch if we need to borrow additional tents from families.

How much?

The prices below include a Newday ticket, all food (except lunch on the first travel day) and transport. Some spending money is also useful to have at Newday, as there are a variety of shops and food/snack outlets on site.

We don't want the cost to stop anyone from attending. If the costs are going to be a barrier to attending, please talk to Caleb or Izzi (Gateway) or Millie (City Church) about further subsidies. We're also open to talking about spreading the payments over a longer period of time if that is helpful to you.

Early Bird rates (before Friday 23th January 2026)

The cost of Newday to you will be £190 per young person. We're able to offer this significantly subsidised rate due to the generous giving of people within our churches who recognise the value of young people attending.

If you have multiple young people in your household coming along, we also offer a sibling discount. The second young person’s place will cost £135 and the third £85.

Advanced Rate (before Friday 24th April 2026)

If you book on after Friday 24th January then the total cost will go up to £205. This is because Newday ticket prices rise at this point. Sibling prices are £150 and £100.

Standard Rate (up until the event)

If you book on after Friday 24th April, the prices will be £220 for the first young person, then £165 and £115 for the second and third siblings.

Booking

To secure a place, please complete the booking form linked at the bottom and pay a non-refundable £50 deposit (per young person) as soon as possible. The balance will need to be paid by the end of June. Please note that if you withdraw your booking after 30th April 2026, due to Newday's refund policy, we will still require you to pay the full amount (unless we manage to fill the place with another young person).

Pay by bank transfer, using the reference "ND26 SURNAME" (changing SURNAME to the young person's surname)

Account Name:   Gateway York CIO

Sort Code:   40-52-40

Air bed or roll mat or camp bed.

Changes of clothes (including some warm clothes for the evenings)

Sensible shoes for a range of conditions! (you may find wellies useful if the weather is wet. Flip-flops are sometimes a good option too)

Sliders/flip flops for the showers

A clean carrier bag to keep clothes dry when showering

Toiletries

Towel

Tea towel – for drying up after meals (everyone takes turns at this)

Plate, cup, bowl + knife, fork and spoon

Your personalised canvas tote bag (if you've been to Newday with us previously). These hand in the main marquee with crockery and cutlery inside. We'll provide you with a new one if you don't have one.

Torch

Any medication you may need (boxed and labelled)

Sun cream, sun hat, water bottle

Waterproofs

Some spending money for snacks, merch etc

Packed lunch for the journey down to Norfolk (or money for a McDonalds). We can provide a packed lunch for the return bus journey.

Bible and pen

NB. We're asking that young people do not bring camping chairs this year, due to limited space in the marquee.

A rucksack or small bag is useful for carrying items around the campsite.

Cake or baked goods– everyone brings a cake so that we can share them after the evening meeting with hot chocolate. NB. Please ensure that your cake/baked goodie does not need to be refrigerated (we only have limited space) and is clearly labelled with any allergens.

Each year at Newday, there is a theme night, where young people are invited to come to the main evening meeting dressed for a theme. Once we know the theme, we'll let you know so you can decide whether you want to bring a costume or not.

Due to it being very difficult to keep valuable items secure when camping, we recommend that your child doesn’t bring any expensive electronic devices or other valuables with them. However, we recognise that many young people will bring a mobile phone. We just need to let you know that  anything they do bring is entirely at their own risk. We provide a facility for charging phones. Remember your phone charger if bringing one.

Rules & Expectations

We'll remind all of the young people of these rules once we arrive on site, but its useful if you can run through them with your young person(s) in advance...

Be kind to one another and to the leaders.

Listen to and follow instructions from the leaders.

You will be expected to help on a washing up rota.

Both daily main meetings are mandatory - you can't opt out because you're tired or "not feeling up to it". We walk to these together as a group and we sit together throughout. Seminars and other activities are optional.

Go to the toilet before we set off for meetings, so that we don't need to stop on the way and you don't need to leave during the meeting.

When moving around the site, you MUST be in a group of 2 or more.

Tell a leader before you head away from the camp to an activity.

Come back to the camp as soon as venues close at 11.00pm

You must come to the dining marquee for each of the 3 daily meals, even if you aren't hungry. They're our key check-in points during the day.

You cannot leave the site without a leader accompanying you.

Go to bed when the leaders tell you it's bedtime.

Afternoon naps are allowed, but only if you went to bed when you were told the night before.

If you get hungry, help yourself to fruit in the marquee, or buy something from a venue. Do not help yourself to any other food supplies in the marquee.

No eating an hour before main meals (even fruit).

You must shower at least once every 2 days. Just don't go before a meal or meeting as queues can be long.

No alcohol or illegal substances allowed. Talk to a leader if you smoke/vape to understand expectations about when/where.

Females are not allowed in male tents. Males are not allowed in female tents.
